🧵 Embroidery FAQ ▼
1. How do I estimate the stitch count for my logo?
Embroidery pricing is based on stitches, not colors. The stitch count depends on how big the design is and how much detail it has. A good rule of thumb: about 2,000 stitches per square inch of filled design.
- A small logo (like 1" × 1") will usually be 2,000–3,000 stitches.
- A standard left chest logo (around 2" × 3") runs about 10,000–12,000 stitches.
- Larger or very detailed designs (4" × 4" or more) can hit 20,000+ stitches.
The more solid fills, tiny text, or outlines your design has, the higher the count will be. Simple text or shapes = fewer stitches. Detailed crests or artwork = more stitches.
2. What's the maximum size you can embroider on hats?
The maximum height for embroidery on hats is 2.25 inches tall. This keeps the design clean and centered without stretching over seams.
3. What types of garments work best for embroidery?
Embroidery works best on structured fabrics like polos, jackets, hoodies, hats, and bags. Thin or stretchy materials (like performance tees) are not ideal, and screen printing may be a better option.
4. Do you have a minimum order for embroidery?
No minimums. You can order a single piece or as many as you need.
5. Do I have to pay a digitizing fee every time?
No. Digitizing is a one-time setup fee per logo. Once your design is digitized, we can reuse it for future orders at no extra cost.
6. Can you match my exact colors?
We stock a wide range of thread colors and can get very close to most brand or Pantone colors. Specialty threads like metallic or neon are available by request.
7. How durable is embroidery?
Embroidery is extremely durable. With proper care, the stitching will usually outlast the garment itself.
8. Can small text be embroidered?
Yes, but text should be at least ¼ inch tall to remain legible. Smaller text may not sew cleanly.
9. What's the turnaround time?
Our standard embroidery turnaround time is 15 business days after artwork approval.
10. How is pricing calculated?
Embroidery pricing is based on:
- Stitch count (size and detail of the design)
- Number of placements (front, sleeve, back, etc.)
- Quantity of items
More stitches and more placements mean more time on the machine, which increases cost.
